New Post: Watch Liverpool youth player Curtis Jones’ sensational footwork, goal

Liverpool F.C.has several players  who can run at opponents and beat them 1v1 on the dribble and it looks like at least one player in the team’s youth ranks can as well.

Reds u-18 midfielder  Curtis Jones scored a goal Saturday against Blackburn Rovers that would make senior team stars Phillipe Coutinho, Roberto Fermino, Adam Lallana, Georginio Wijnaldum, Divock Origi and more proud.

Seeing a goal like this from a young player is encouraging, because academy players seem to normally play a conservative style of soccer. Jones not only bamboozles his marker on the run, but links up well with a teammate on the wing before getting the ball back to score the goal.

Jones had plenty of work to do after getting the pass back, as well. His quick footwork and presence of mind under pressure was fantastic. The finish wasn’t easy either, but he still managed to tuck it away.

Jones also scored a headed goal in the 3-0 playoff win. If he keeps this up, I would love to see Jones in the full Liverpool team in a few years.

New Post: Liverpool agrees to fee for Loic Remy, looks to replace Luis Suarez by Committee

By, Kyle Gibson

Should be Noted This deal isn’t official quite yet. Looks like it’s going through though.

It looks like Liverpool has signed its second striker of the summer, with a reported deal for QPR’s Loic Remy suggested to be in the £8.5 million area.

Remy, 27 scored 14 goals in league play last season on loan at Newcastle United and played for France at the World Cup this summer.

The first striker Liverpool signed this offseason was Rickie Lambert, the 32 year old local player from Southampton. Lambert scored 13 goals last season.

Those 27 goals combined are still short of the 31 scored by one man, Luis Suarez, who departed in a haze of controversy to Barcelona this summer.

It looks like these two strikers will rotate with Daniel Sturridge, or maybe even play a 4-3-3 and while it’s certainly more depth, neither of those 3 players can create chances like Suarez could. They are more goal scorers than goal manufacturers.

Thankfully, Liverpool fans, your team should have that aspect covered as well. The signings of Adam Lallana from Southampton, Emre Can from Bayer Leverkusen and Lazar Markovic from Benfica will really provide an attacking boost. All three are very strong midfielders that will compliment the already there Steven Gerrard, Raheem Sterling and Jordan Henderson. Adding those midfield talents will bring a huge help to providing service to Sterling, Remy and Lambert and they can even score a few goals themselves.

Looks like Liverpool is handling the loss of Suarez with care and common sense. Maybe they’re using Tottenham’s fiasco of replacing Gareth
Bale as a cautionary tale.
