The rumors for once have proven true in this transfer window.
Bayern Munich announced on its Twitter today that Bastien Schweinsteiger is leaving the club.
He will join Manchester United, who are looking to bolster their midfield with more steel and experience.
Schweinsteiger has both of those qualities in abundance. He has 342 appearances for Bayern Munich and 111 for Germany, winning essentially every trophy a European player can win.
In recent seasons, Scweinsteiger has had to compete more for a starting spot as he has started to age. The 30 year old is certainly starting to show his age, but he has way more left in the soccer tank.
This certainly appears to be a win now move for Louis Van Gaal and Manchester United. The team enters LVG’s second season with Champions League and Premier League hopes.
Having such an experienced midfielder such as Schweinsteiger can surely help this team.
