For some unexplained reason, Jose Mourinho has no interest in keeping Romelu Lukaku around.
The 21 year-old Belgian superstar striker is on his way out of Stamford Bridge, according to many outlets. The club Lukaku is signing with? Everton. Manager Roberto Martinez secured Lukaku on loan last year and watched happily as Lukaku scored 17 total goals, 16 in the EPL.
Chelsea’s strike force will now more than likely feature Diego Costa, who signed after a great season with Athletico Madrid, Chelsea legend Didier Drogba and the much maligned Fernando Torres.
The price-tag on Lukaku is expected to be around 25 million pounds, which is a steal, but is also a huge transfer for a smaller club.
I love the way Lukaku plays (he is saved in my phone as ROMELU LUKAKU because of how exciting he is.) This is also good news for Everton in that it keeps some of its nucleus together after re-signing Ross Barkley.
Meanwhile, Soccer by Ives writer Franco Panzio has a story that suggests the LA Galaxy are interested in bringing Sacha Kljestan back home to the US. The deal would be on a loan, which would help the Galaxy to add some midfield depth for a midseason run.
Kljestan, a California native, starred for Chivas USA until his transfer to Anderlecht, the best club in Belgium, in 2010. Kljestan is 28 and has 46 US caps.
Expect a Kicking it podcast later in the week, plus a Manchester United column if I ever hear anything definitive about Mr. Arturo Vidal.
