According to its Twitter page, Everton has signed Manchester City midfielder Gareth Barry to a 3 year deal.
Barry, age 33, was loaned to Everton from City last season, with an option to sign permanently at the end of the loan.
In an expected move, Everton opted to keep Barry and sealed that up today. During his loan last season, Barry was able to revitalize his career, which had been buried under the depth at Manchester City. Barry made 32 Everton appearances, scoring 3 goals and helped to bring a much needed stability to Roberto Martinez in his first season as manager.
Everton finished 5th in the EPL last season, earning 72 points and qualifying for Europa League play.
Barry has made 53 England appearances, scoring 3 goals in an international career that ended in 2012.
Barry was one of Martinez’s project loan players, players who were loaned out from bigger clubs to gain experience and provide quality players for cheap wages. Other players loaned to Everton last season were Romelu Lukaku of Chelsea and Gerard Deulofeu of Barcelona.
