Former Marshall defender Travis Brent, who started all but 3 games during his Herd career and served as co-captain this past season, has been invited to the USL Pro Combine in Bradenton, Florida.
USL Pro is one of three professional soccer leagues in the US, along with Major League Soccer and the NASL. There are now 15 teams with the recent additions of expansion clubs Sacramento and Oklahoma City.
US soccer designates USL Pro as a third tier professional soccer league, meaning it is below MLS and NASL. However, MLS clubs and USL clubs have recently started forming partnerships, which could enhance player exposure in the USL.
The combine is set to run from January 23-26 at the famous IMG Academy. Players will test their abilities and be exposed to teams in attendance.
Brent was named to the Third team of Conference USA Soccer for his play this past season at Marshall. He also played for the MLS team Portland Timbers U-23 team this past summer.
